2016 Advocate Aeshatou Manu of Cameroon sent the following update: "Over the past two years as a Senior Indigenous Fellow with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Indigenous Peoples and Minorities Section, I contributed substantially to the work of the UN Voluntary Fund for Indigenous Peoples and the Indigenous and Minorities Flagship Fellowship Programmes. My role focused on supporting Indigenous Peoples’ and minority representatives’ effective participation in UN human rights mechanisms, including treaty bodies, the Human Rights Council, and relevant Special Procedures. I was closely involved in the design, delivery, and evaluation of fellowship trainings."
"This experience strengthened my ability to work at the intersection of policy, capacity building, and operational delivery, while reinforcing my commitment to advancing the meaningful participation, leadership, and rights of Indigenous Peoples and Minorities within the UN system."
"I would also like to inform you that in June 2025 I also took my function as a Member of the Facilitative Working Group of Local Communities and Indigenous Peoples Platform within the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) as the Africa Representative for the Indigenous Peoples representatives including six other Indigenous Peoples representatives from the seven UN Sociocultural regions."
