The Human Rights Studies M.A. Program boasts an alumni network of more than 800 human rights scholars, academics, and practitioners from more than 75 countries. Our graduates' career paths span academia, government, law, NGOs, philanthropy, technology, media, business, and more. Some pursue further graduate studies in PhD, JD, and other programs after completing the M.A.

Alumni Resources
ISHR maintains a mailing list to share news, opportunities, and major ISHR announcements with graduates of the program. Alumni wishing to also receive information about upcoming human rights events, are encouraged to subscribe to our newsletter or visit our events page. Alumni are also encouraged to visit the GSAS Alumni Resources page for information about alumni benefits, events, and career and research resources.
HRSMA Alumni Mentorship Initiative
The HRMSA Alumni Mentorship Initiative (HAMI) pairs current graduate students with alumni from the program. Our mentors are alumni with illustrious careers at US-based and international organizations. Through this initiative, students and alumni build relationships that are mutually beneficial and long lasting. Mentees receive career guidance and develop their networks, and mentors share their professional experience and career insight to help pave the way for future human rights advocates and scholars.

More Ways to Get Involved
Our graduates stay connected with ISHR in many ways. A number of HRSMA alumni return to the Institute to share their professional expertise and career advice with current students by participating in speaker series, panels, and other events. Alumni also frequently serve as facilitators for our Human Rights Training Series, leading workshops on topics as wide ranging as using data in the human rights and humanitarian settings, community organizing and engagement, and career and professional development.
Interested in sharing your expertise or leading a workshop for current students? Please contact us at [email protected]. Need to update your email or mailing address? Fill out this form to update your contact information.
Join the HRSMA Alumni LinkedIn group to stay connected with former classmates and meet current students. The GSAS Alumni Office also maintains a LinkedIn group.
