February 24th is going to commemorate the anniversary of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine. To commemorate the year of hardships, heroism, and sacrifices of the Ukrainian people, the Human Rights Graduate Group is proud to cordially invite you to a very special panel and film screening to mark this monumental occasion.

The film, “Cyborgs: Heroes Never Die,” is a gripping story about the Battle of Donetsk Airport during the early days of war in Eastern Ukraine in 2014, serving as a testament and a reminder of how long ago the real Russian aggression began and what toll it has been taking on the country for the last 8 years. The film screening will be followed by a Q&A with the director himself, Akhtem Seitablaev.

The event will include presentations and a discussion panel, with guests including Lili Bivings, a contributing editor at the Kyiv Independent – a newspaper that has remained steadfastly at the forefront of both the conflict coverage and information war – and Tanya Kotelnykova, a Columbia Master’s Candidate in Human Rights Studies and a founder of the mentorship program for young Ukrainians, “Mentor Ukraine.”

This event is open to the public and non-Columbia affiliates. We kindly ask you to refrain from bringing your personal food, as there is a café situated in the Interchurch Building.
